It’s impossible not to love Lucca (aka Lucca Bear). He may produce enough fluff to fill a vacuum cleaner each week, but we wouldn’t change that for the world! People often say that Lucca looks like Aslan from Narnia and that’s a very true description, majestic as a lion but with the most kind and gentle personality. He is one of our best friends and he knows us so well and we could never give enough credit to him for how much he brings to us. If Lucca was a human, he’d be the best friend you would meet at playgroup, the first friend you got drunk with, the best man at your wedding and your companion in the residential home. He is pure love and loyalty through and through.
Lockdown tails…
During lockdown, we were both very fortunate and blessed to continue working and we know this wasn’t the case for so many, so we were so grateful that we could. However, like everyone else, we still had huge adjustments to make but our one saving grace was walking with Lucca. Whilst we couldn’t always go out together when we were limited to one walk a day, it meant that Lucca got two really different walks every day with 1-1 time with his mum and dad!
You see, having Lucca in our lives means that there is always a positive spin on anything. Even on a rough day, Lucca can turn it around and put a silver lining on a cloud. His route to happiness is as follows: ‘no matter how you are feeling, I’ll bring you a teddy anyway.’
He is also the only dog we know that still has a stuffed toy (a blue octopus called ‘Octi’) from puppy school! It’s still intact – and he is almost eight years old now! Octi has been through the wash too many times to remember and is only just now showing signs of wear and tear, as Lucca carries him ever so gently, like a balloon that could burst but he can’t allow it too! It’s so sweet.
