Emma-Louise Grady works from her studio, situated in the city centre of Glasgow, Scotland.

Grady's paintings explore the practice of intuitive mark-making. Inspired by vivid colours; her surroundings also influence her creative process. Through the exploration of patterns, her work represents a sense of freedom and fluidity. The patterns created are unique to each painting, allowing them to stand on their own. With every intricate detail committed to her paintings, a world is created that only exists within each artwork. Each piece created has endured a variety of process stages, allowing it to have a significant amount of layering to each painting, invoking a sense of depth. In a world where commitment to a concept is favourable, her work stands alone. Vibrancy takes the lead.

Studying contemporary art since 2013, she has achieved a BA honours degree in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Working as an independent artist since my graduation in 2019 has further refined her artistic skills. She was also an artist in residence for the company Enterprise Mentoring.

During September and October of 2019, she had the opportunity to live and work as an artist in Florence after winning the John Kinross Scholarship. This experience has helped her flourish as an artist, encouraging her to explore different mediums, compositions, and colours.

She was also invited to exhibit her work at the Royal Scottish Academy for their exhibition, 'New Contemporaries 2020'. This is where she was awarded the 'Fleming-Wyfold Foundation Award, for the best painter or draughtsman/woman'. With each day, her practice continues to evolve and explore the world around her. As she continues to grow, so too will her paintings.
