After graduating from Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2015 with a First Class honours in Illustration, Laura began working as a Monumental Artist for a memorial company in Worcestershire.  It was there, while learning how to sandblast and hand-etch portraits onto stone, that she honed her skill for capturing likeness and in 2017 won a National Prize for her striking double portrait of Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly.

In 2018, Laura decided to reignite her flame with Illustration, and begun working for clients such as Emporio Armani, Kiehl’s, Stylist, Clive Christian and Suitcase. Her ability to capture likeness meant she was the perfect candidate for live illustration, and so throughout 2018 & 2019 she illustrated portraits at luxury events across the country - from Harrods to Selfridges to a private party at Blenheim Palace.

When lockdown hit in 2020, Laura had more time to experiment with media and scale. She began reconnecting with her childhood loves – theatre, vintage film and storytelling…  Since then, her work has taken on a life of its own. Employing subtle textures and characters with heavy gazes, Laura’s portrait and figurative work is dripping with intense theatrical emotion. She is fascinated by the idea of the viewer being able to ‘walk into her work’ and aims to spark a new narrative. She gives you part of the story and asks you to make up the rest…

She always leaves you hanging.
